How do I invite the NIH Director to an event within NIH? To an event outside NIH?
You may direct invitations for the NIH Director to attend and participate in events to [email protected]. Additional information on preparing and sending invitations to the NIH Director is available here.
My office received a request to “vet” an invitation to the NIH Director? What kind of response should be provided?
The NIH Director relies on advice from the ICOs as his subject matter experts when deciding whether to accept or decline the many invitation requests he receives. When your ICO receives an invitation vetting assignment, Liaisons may respond after obtaining input from the ICO Director or another senior-level official. Recommendations whether the NIH Director should accept, decline, or defer the invitation should be provided in the Remarks section within SAAVI. You may also include an explanatory comment. If you recommend a surrogate attend for the Director, please provide the person’s full name and title.
